Labrum Tear Hip
A protective cartilage labrum is present over the hip socket. This labrum provides a protective effect and cushioning support to the hip joint. A significant damage to the integrity of labrum is referred to as labral or labrum tear.
What is Labrum Tear Hip?
The hip is a ball and socket joint. The rim of the socket end of the hip, or acetebellum, is covered with a band of tough cartilage and connective tissue, called the labrum. It cushions against the ball part of the hip joint, and prevents the bones from rubbing together, as well as giving stability to the joint, and keeping the leg bone in place.
A Labrum Tear Hip occurs when there is damage or injury done to the labrum in the hip.
