Osteochondritis Dissecans is a condition characterized by the loss of the bone from its attached cartilage. It can affect any joint but the most affected site for osteochondritis dissecans is the knee joint.
What is Osteochondritis Dissecans?
Osteochondritis Dissecans occurs when a small segment of bone begins to separate from its surrounding region due to a lack of blood supply. As a result, the small piece of bone and the cartilage covering it begin to crack and loosen. The most common part of the body for Osteochondritis Dissecan to occur is in the knee at the end of the femur.
