What is Plantar Fasciitis?
Plantar fascia is a thick fibrous ligament which connect your toes to the heel bone. This ligamentous band runs across the plantar aspect of your foot and protect pedal arches from sudden stress, strain and pressure. However, under the influence of persistent stress and micro-trauma, the planta fascia may undergoes damage, leading to plantar fasciitis.

- Obesity and overweight
- Flat feet or high aches
- Ill-fitting footwear
- Stiffness or overstretching of pedal arches or plantar fascia due to overactivity and abuse (seen in military personnel, athletes and marathon runners)
Plantar Fasciitis mostly affects the people of middle age to older age. Certain risk factors that may increase your risk of developing Plantar Fasciitis are; obesity, advanced osteoporosis, nutritional deficiencies and highly dynamic lifestyle.
Left untreated, Plantar Fasciitis can lead to Heel Spurs.
