Biceps Tendonitis
Your bicep is a muscle that stretches from your shoulder to your elbow, and is mainly responsible for helping you bend your elbow, rotating your forearm and stabilizing and raising your shoulder. A strain or tear that happens to your bicep at the tendons is called Biceps Tendonitis.
What is Biceps Tendonitis?
Biceps Tendonitis is a non-inflammatory musculoskeletal condition that is marked by rupture or complete degeneration of biceps tendon at the level of the shoulder (a Proximal Biceps Tendonitis) or the elbow joint (a Distal Biceps Tendonitis).
If a Biceps Tendonitis injury is severe enough, this can lead to a Biceps Tendon tear at either the shoulder or the elbow.

Causes of Biceps Tendonitis
Biceps Tendonitis is usually caused by the overuse or abusive of upper limb muscles (for example in continuous repetitive motion while playing tennis or badminton). It is often associated with other musculoskeletal conditions such as:
- Tendon and muscle impingement
- Rotator cuff syndrome
- Rotator muscle tears etc.
Professional athletes (elite golfers, tennis players), construction workers and individuals working with heavy machineries are at high risk of developing Biceps Tendonitis
