Scar Tissue
When soft tissue undergoes trauma, it’s likely to form Scar Tissue. This Scar Tissue can cause all types of problems for patients, including chronic pain and reduced range of motion. Breaking down Scar Tissue is important for restoring blood flow to healing areas and for promoting a full range of motion during and after healing.
What is Scar Tissue?
When there is damage to muscles and other soft tissues including pulls, tears, or not being able to get enough oxygen (hypoxia), it can result in the body producing rough, thick Scar Tissue in the affected area.
Scar Tissue restricts the tissues from moving freely because they bind them and tie them down, and as scar tissue builds up, muscles shorten and become weaker, nerves become ensnared and tendinitis can develop due to tension on the tendons.

Signs and Symptoms of Scar Tissue
Scar tissue can lead to the following signs and symptoms:
Conditions that can occur through Scar Tissue include:
Causes of Scar Tissue
The three most common attributes to overuse conditions include the following:
- acute conditions(pulls, tears, collisions, etc.)
- accumulation of small tears via repetitive movements (micro-trauma)
- Lack of oxygen(hypoxia).
Consequently each of these factors can cause your body to produce scar tissue in the affected area.
The effect that acute injury, repetitive trauma, and constant pressure or tension has on nerves, muscles, and bones can be seen in the Cumulative Injury Cycle. Repeating the same faulty movement patterns day after day results in soft tissue remodeling itself in random and problematic ways. This tissue trauma leads to inflammation causing muscles to spasm and scar tissue or adhesions to form. These adhesions interfere with the natural movement process and and cause altered neuromuscular control. This altered awareness and body control leads to muscle imbalances and the process repeats itself.
