Signs and Symptoms of Triceps Tendonosis (Weightlifter Elbow)

Classic presentation of Triceps tendonosis (Weightlifter elbow) is specific for pain and stiffness of elbow joint (especially along the posterior aspect of elbow). The stiffness and pain aggravates after activity across elbow joint (such activities include, boxing, hammering, push-ups etc.).

In the absence of active intervention, individuals may develop permanent weakness of elbow joint and triceps muscles. Chronic inflammatory process and resulting degeneration is believed to be the primary cause of Triceps tendonosis (Weightlifter elbow).

Causes of Triceps Tendonosis (Weightlifter Elbow)

In most cases, Triceps tendonosis (Weightlifters elbow) is caused by chronic abuse of triceps muscles in the repetitive motion of the upper limb (especially at the level of elbow or shoulder joint). Individuals who perform intense physical workouts with upper limb (such as dips or push-ups) are fairly vulnerable to develop Triceps tendonosis (Weightlifters elbow).
