Ménière's Disease
Ménière's Disease is a balance disorder. It’s caused by an abnormality in part of the inner ear called the labyrinth. Fluid buildup here can cause a severe spinning feeling (vertigo) and affect the hearing
What is Ménière's Disease?
Ménière’s Disease (also called idiopathic endolymphatic hydrops) occurs when the compartments of the inner ear (the labyrinth) become over-filled with a fluid called endolymph. Normally, the endolymph will stimulate receptors in the inner ear when the body moves, or when sound travels through the ear. However, the overabundance of fluid can disrupt these signals, and create dysfunction in balance and in hearing.
